Fair Work Ombudsman Has Building & Construction Industry In Its Sights
During 2013, The Fair Work Ombudsman claims to have looked into 2083 concerns from workers in the building and construction industry about their pay and in almost half of these cases they recovered unpaid wages for employees.
From October 2014, the Fair Work Ombudsman is starting a campaign within the building and construction industry to investigate:
- • minimum wages
- • penalty rates and allowances
- • overtime
- • pay slips and record-keeping.
Their campaign is not just about auditing businesses, they are also looking for feedback to understand the problems employers face when dealing with workplace laws.
