3.5% Minimum Wage Increase – July 2018

The minimum wage increase has now come into effect from the first full pay period on or after 1 July 2018.

It’s time to check your workers’ wages to ensure you are paying them correctly.

Minimum Wage Increase

The Fair Work Commissions recent decision will increase the national minimum wage to $719.20 per week, or $18.93 per hour.

Award Rates

The base rates of pay in Awards will also increase. For example:

An adult employee covered by the General Retail Industry Award 2010 [MA000004] Classification level 4 is now:

Full-time weekly rate

Classification 4 Adult employees’ covered by the General Retail Industry Award are engaged in managing a defined section or department, supervision of up to 4 sales staff (including self), stock control, buying and ordering requiring the exercise of discretion as to price, quantity and quality etc.
